SPRING LECTURE

The 2008 Spring Lecture will again be a double-bill event:

  • The US airborne acoustic torpedo – 1943-45 by John Beattie;
  • Bletchley Park & the Y-Service, Sigint and the Allied Bombing Offensive by John Stubbington.
     

The event will take place at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham, Wiltshire, SN6 8LA. It is located just off the A420, approximately 6 miles from Swindon, towards Oxford, close to a roundabout signed
“Defence Academy". Take this exit, follow signs and proceed to the Main Gate, where ID will be checked. Drivers will be given Car Passes and directed to a car park near the lecture venue – expected to be the Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) Wing. Please allow time for this – at busy periods it may take up to 25 minutes. The event will start with Registration at 14.00, will include afternoon refreshments and will end at around 16.45.

If this requirement causes a problem, please annotate your booking form accordingly, so that we can make appropriate arrangements.


If you find travel to Shrivenham too difficult, please let us know as soon as possible and we will put you in touch with an appropriate and willing attendee who may be able to help. If we cannot make this arrangement, the booking fee will be returned. We look forward to seeing you. Please note that we do not normally acknowledge bookings. Please don’t forget your Photo ID!
