New members are
always welcome from the United Kingdom and from around the world. If you wish
to join DEHS, please click on the button to the left of this page. Then print
out the Application Form and mail it to the membership secretary,
enclosing a cheque for the subscription.
Please note that our membership records are held on computer - see the statement in the Application Form on our compliance with the Data Protection Act (1998).
Those wishing to be actively involved may
also take part in the following activities:
·
Join the Oral
History Interviewers Team. One of the
frustrations of our work is the inability to conduct interviews fast enough to
keep pace with the rate at which memories are sadly being lost. Our volunteer
interviewers are put in touch with people who have indicated that they would
like to contribute their memories to our archive. Most of our contacts are in
the United Kingdom, but we do have one active interviewer in the United States,
so there is scope for international collaboration!
· Join The Oral
History Transcribers Team. One of the
greatest challenges for a programme like ours is getting the oral history
interviews transcribed. It is ideal if the interviewer can do this, but this is
not always possible. We are always keen to hear from experienced typists who
are willing to volunteer to spend a couple of hours a week working on
transcription. This can be done from the comfort of your own home and from
anywhere in the world!

programme, please contact us
